The Montreal Stock Exchange and the Canadian Stock Exchange merged on January 1, 1974 under the name of The Montreal Stock Exchange, which was changed to The Montreal Exchange in February 1982. In the last few years, The Montreal Exchange has launched the following new markets: Gold Option Market; Option Market on five currencies - Swiss Franc, Japanese Yen, German Mark, British Pound and the Canadian Dollar; Option Market on Government of Canada Bonds; Gold and Silver Certificates Market; options on Canadian stock indices.
